I think it’s needless to say that I have a lot of tech stuff, it’s just kind of a given. I have always had equipment/gear/tech around. I had a tape player/recorder I used to carry around with me everywhere. I was probably 3 or 4 years old. I had my own record player. I remember putting records on it. Once again, I was probably about 3 years old. That type of stuff has always just clicked in my head. It makes sense. Now, can I build a record player or tape recorder? Nope. Brain doesn’t work that way.

Of all the tech stuff I have I really think my most favorite items are my HomePods. I have the Minis and the full size HomePods. First of all they sound great for their size and are very easy to setup and use. That just makes the whole experience better from the get go. The reason that they are my favorite is because of the automation I have been able to do with them.

After I setup the HomePods I started looking through settings to see what could I do with them besides the obvious. I created an automation for when I get home. If I arrive home between the hours of 12pm and 9pm any day of the week my HomePods will group together, set their volumes to what I specified and start playing music based off of my listening history. I don’t need to do anything. By the time I step foot in the door the music is already playing. It’s such a great way to arrive home. I know if I walked in the door and had to open my phone or computer or iPad etc and pick something to play it’s going to take me 5mins. I’ll browse through new releases then look at stuff i recently added. Before I know it I’m sucked into a rabbit hole of not being able to decide because of too many options. I let technology decide for me, after all it’s just background music so I’m not going to complain about what comes on. If it’s something I really don’t want to hear I’ll just tap any HomePod when I walk by and it goes to the next song.

Can you really go wrong with music automatically playing when you get home? In my opinion, no.
